Following our largest-ever Champs in 2025, The 2026 event will ONCE AGAIN have SPLIT-FIELDS, meaning there will be:

Regarded as a must-play event on most clubs’ Social Golf calendars, the SGA Championships sees golfers and social clubs from across Australia converge upon the Gold Coast for a week of spectacular golf, energetic competition and, most importantly, a ton of fun.

ARRIVAL

Arrival and Check-in at The Gold Coast

Upon arrival at the glittering Gold Coast, you'll transfer to your home base for the week, the Mantra Legends Hotel. Featuring 4-star rooms, the hotel is right in the heart of the action, and provides everything you need for a fun and relaxing stay.

You'll then check-in for the tournament, where you will meet our friendly staff and receive your player Welcome Pack, which includes a tournament polo & hat, cooler bag, golf balls, bag tag, the week's program and more fun goodies.

Sunday - Optional - Ambrose Day

Palmer Gold Coast (Robina Woods)

The week begins with an optional (and fun) Team Ambrose Golf Day, where you can warm-up for the week in a jovial and relaxing atmosphere. Carved out of 65 hectares of native woodlands, with fairways lined by towering gum trees, Palmer Gold Coast has rapidly developed a reputation as one of Queensland’s best-loved resort courses. Consistently ranked in the top 30 resort courses in the country, Palmer Gold Coast is a 6078 meter, 18-hole, Par 71 championship golf course designed by the Marsh / Watson team. A natural water-course featuring lakes, ponds, creeks and native wildlife completes a rare golf course environment.

Designed by five-times British Open Champion, Peter Thomson and home to Australian golfing royalty, Peter Senior, Links Hope Island is a must-play on any visit to the region. Lakelands

Since opening in February 1997, the wonderful Lakelands golf course has forged a deserved reputation as one of Australia's very best golf courses. Situated in the heart of the Gold Coast adjacent to the luxurious Radisson Resort and next door to Palm Meadows, Lakelands was the first signature designed course in Australia by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus. Lakelands is often described as a thinking player's course with a unique Nicklaus flavour to the design.

Palm Meadows

Palm Meadows was the first golf resort course on the Gold Coast, and pioneered the Australian resort golfing boom. The challenging 350-hectare par 72 course was designed by renowned course-designer Graham Marsh. It measures 6319 metres off the championship tees and the opening and closing holes are rated among the greatest in Australian golf. Water comes into play on 14 holes and there are 82 sand bunkers around the course.

RACV Royal Pines Resort has been recognised as a premier golf destination for over a decade. Friday evening, you'll enjoy a massive night, as we wrap-up the week at the Presentation Ceremony and Closing Dinner. Our event will again feature great prizes totaling over $50,000, including Srixon, Garmin and MGI golf products, vouchers from The Card Network and Drummond Golf, and SGA Shiraz from Heathcote Winery. The evening also includes our highly-anticipated prize draw, where one player will win free entry to one of our events (including airfares) valued at over $2500.

By choosing this service, you will get full return transfers between the Mantra Hotel and the golf course each day (in a fully-air-conditioned coach), PLUS we will store and deliver your bag to the courses each day and have it waiting on your golf cart. (Thus relieving you the burden of sorting your bag at the hotel each day).

The SGA Championships features the Mantra Legends Hotel as our home base for the week. The hotel, featuring 4-star rooms, is right in the heart of the action, and provides everything you need for a fun and relaxing stay.

Golfers can choose to make their own accommodation arrangements for the event, however, staying at The Mantra will be a significant advantage for a range of reasons:

Transfers to and from the golf courses will all be from The Mantra.
The prices offered by Mantra is great value and discounted on peak rates.
Most of our event participants will be at the property, so it will be far more social for our golfers.

Event entry is structured so that the golf event package is separate from the accommodation booking. This allows entrants flexibility and choice...you can choose the accommodation option that suits you.

2025 Queenstown Golf Week a massive hit for golfers

Amazing golf and jaw-dropping scenery greeted SGA Golfers once again

SGA returned to Queenstown, New Zealand, for the 2025 Queenstown Golf Week, and the trip proved to be everything (and more) that golfers look for in a golf trip.

With some of New Zealand's top courses on offer, including Millbrook's Coronet and Remarkables courses, Jack's Point and Queenstown Golf Club, our golfers were once again treated to an exceptional week of golf.

2025 Queenstown Golf Week Recap

ARRIVAL AND WELCOME DINNER

Following a short flight from Australia, golfers made their way to Crowne Plaza Queenstown, our new home-base for the week. That night, guests enjoyed a hosted Welcome Party at the Queenstown Skyline Stratosfare restaurant, at the top of the famous Queenstown Gondola. Golfers and their partners were treated to good food and drinks, a relaxed vibe, sweeping views of Queenstown, and a jovial atmosphere as they met their fellow golfers (many set to be life-long friends) for the week.

DAY 1 - JACK'S POINT GC

Day 1 of the 2025 Queenstown Golf Week saw golfers experience the spectacular Jack's Point - a bucket-list golf course for golfers across the planet. Despite unseasonably cold and wet conditions (in the area's wettest spring on record), our golfers braved the elements and tackled the South Island's #1-rated course. With spectacular views of the Remarkables mountain range and Lake Wakatipu, the course proved to be challenging and enjoyable - and had many golfers determined to return to play it again next year.

DAY 2 - QUEENSTOWN GOLF CLUB

Day 2 saw the clouds part, and the sun begin to bask our golfers in warmth. And despite a short snowshower (!!!) for the first group, the field enjoyed spectacular views and some high-quality golf. The course -- located in Kelvin Heights, on an island across the bay from the city of Queenstown -- was a smash with golfers, and a treat to play.

DAY 3 - REST DAY

A well-earned "rest day" for many of our golfers in Queenstown. There is SO MUCH to do in the area, it's hard to choose just one or two activities. While some of our guests took the opportunity to rest, others took the day to explore Queenstown, "the Adventure Capital of the World"

DAY 4 MILLBROOK CORONET

Thursday and Friday, our golfers played the magnificent Millbrook Golf Club, host of the NZ Open. The 36-hole facility was a real treat for our golfers to experience it in all its glory. The courses featured gorgeous scenery all around, which (if you're not careful) can distract you from the golf itself. Overall, it was a challenging and enjoyable two days. The course staff were friendly and helpful, and our golfers had a great time.

DAY 5 MILLBROOK REMARKABLES

FAREWELL DINNER

Following the day, golfers and their non-golfing partners converged at Brazz Steakhouse for the Presentation Dinner. With some tasty food (and PLENTY of beverages) consumed, the night was a relaxing and fun evening where golfers chatted about their glorious (and not-so-glorious, LOL) golf shots and moments across this memorable week.

Cheshire Militia Pivot Men pilfer 2025 William Buckley Classic

The Cheshire Militia Pivot Men prevail at 2025 William Buckley Classic

The 20th running of the William Buckley Classic saw golfers from across the country descend upon the Bellarine Peninsula for a weekend of fun and frivolity.

Under cloudy skies, with plenty of wind throughout the weekend, the Portarlington, Queenscliff and (Host) Curlewis Golf courses presented our players with a challenging and thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

For the third time in 3 years, a pair of relative newcomers to SGA battled harder than the rest (both on the course, and in the post-round festivities) as they stormed home to victory, taking home the mighty Murrangurk Trophy.

Following a windy day on Round 1 at the lovely Queenscliff GC, a cloudy start for Round 2 at Curlewis gave way to warm sunshine, and the scoring on the magnificent Curlewis layout began to get as warm as the weather.

Many teams jostled atop the leaderboard all day, with one team, The Cheshire Militia Pivot Men (Harley Voelmle & Peter Weedon) breaking through for a victory via a solid 2-day 88 stableford points. Congrats boys! They pipped The Swan Island Hackers (Dean Baldry and Gavin Morris) on 86, followed by The Indented Heads (Anthony Moscato and Michelle Jarvis) on 85. Rounding out the Top-5 were The Torquay Hookers (Kathy Ridley and Zane Ridley) on countback over the fast-finishing The Wild White Men (Rob Robinson and Shaun Condron), both on 83.

YOUR ITINERARY: 2026 Vietnam Golf Week

Like all SGA Trips and Tours, this fully-hosted golf week will feature our unique brand of high-quality golf and "a really good vibe".

In essence, we've done the hard yards for you. All you need to do is have fun!

Day 1 - Sun - Arrival & Welcome Dinner

Depart from your capital city to Da Nang (via Ho Chi Minh City).

You'll be picked-up at the airport and transfer to Brilliant Hotel for check-in. Brilliant Hotel Danang is located on Bach Dang street, the most beautiful street in Da Nang city. Featuring views of the poetic Han River and legendary bridges, the hotel is in a prime location, connecting famous attractions with shopping malls, restaurants and vibrant bars.

That night, enjoy a Welcome Dinner, where you will meet your fellow travelers, and get prepared for a week of fun.

Day 2 - Mon - BRG Danang - Nicklaus Course

Winding through paddy fields, the Nicklaus Course is a fantastic start to your week. Several of the holes play adjacent to the Coco River with great views of the surrounding villages and back to Danang City. A series of interconnected lakes and creeks meander throughout the course with wooden walls framing the holes and separating the greens from the surrounding water hazards.

Day 3 - Tue - BRG Danang - Norman Course

Opened in 2010, this course immediately leapt to fame, being recognized as one of the 15 best new courses in the world by USA GOLF magazine. Da Nang Golf Resort has achieved many awards, amongst them 2011, 2012, 2013 best golf course in Asia by the readers of Asian Golf Monthly as well as the 2012 Best Golf Course in Vietnam by USA Golf Digest and the 2014 IAGTO Diamond Award.

Inclusions: Breakfast.

Rest Day

A much-needed rest day, where you can choose to explore Da Nang (including the famous Golden Bridge), or even travel to Hoi An to walk the narrow streets and explore the shops along the bank of the Thu Bon River. Visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Fujian Assembly Hall and the famous wet markets, while also exploring the historic Old Town for a shopping adventure.

Day 5 - Thu - Ba Na Hills

Located 25 minutes from the centre of Da Nang, Ba Na Hills is set amidst a valley surrounded by native forest. This is a mountain course with a great mix of natural topography and vegetation, which will provide a challenge for all levels of golfers. The fairways are typically generous, and the bunkering style is impressively bold with the grass rolled over the face and the sand partly visible from the tees. The greens have plenty of subtle undulations and encourage a variety of approach shots.

Day 6 - Fri - Laguna Lang & Closing Dinner

Located between the ancient city of Hue to the north, and Da Nang to the south, the Laguna Lang Co Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Sir Nick Faldo. The course takes advantage of the variety of existing environments as it weaves between trees, over rice paddy fields and streams, through impressive rock features and alongside the beach, to create a challenging and beautiful layout.

Day 7 - Sat - Travel Day

Check-out and transfer to the airport for your flight home (or continue on to the Mission Hills Masters in Shenzhen!).

2026 SGA Autumn Classic - Event Info

2026 is the 4th running of the Autumn Classic, with the event returning to the magnificent town of Bright. Golfers will play at Myrtleford and Bright golf courses (with an optional bonus round at Bright GC) and stay at the Bright Chalet. The format for the weekend is individual and teams stableford aggregate.

Bright Country Golf Club

Situated at the foothills of the Victorian Alps, the Bright Country Golf Club is considered to be one of Victoria's best regional courses. Nestled alongside the Ovens River, the unique 18-hole course, designed by Tony Cashmore, features a par-72, 6097m easy-walking layout with manicured grass greens and beautifully developed tree-lined fairways. The course is a favourite of SGA Staff ... especially as there are no bunkers! (But don't let that fool you, it is challenging, fun and spectacular.).

Myrtleford Golf Club

Situated in the heart of the beautiful Ovens Valley, Myrtleford boasts an 18-hole course with tree-lined fairways - (some of the River Red gums are reputed to be 300 years old). It is a challenging course with accuracy at a premium on the narrow fairways and small greens. It's another easy-walking course, with most of the fairways being flat -- with only the 9th and 18th being on a hill.

The Bright Chalet

Located just outside of Bright, the Bright Chalet is a third-generation family business, which is popular year-round. Featuring 26 rooms over two floors, the chalet is the ideal home-base for our event. There is a full-service kitchen and dining area, dedicated bar, pool and function area. The rooms are comfortable and fully-equipped with large LCD screens, reverse-cycle air conditioning/heating, refrigerator, en-suite plus access to a balcony, with views of the surrounding mountains.

Event format - Single Stableford PLUS Pairs Better Ball

Here's everything you need to know about this 36-hole, weekend golfing adventure:

The Autumn Classic is a 36-hole golf tournament for amateur golfers. The event format for the individual grades is single stableford over two rounds. In addition, there is a team element (Pairs Better Ball/ 4BBB) event to add some extra fun and interest to the tournament. For this, only a team's best stableford score for each hole (i.e. Better Ball) is counted. These are added to make the daily team total. The team with the best total over two days wins the title.

Friday

Optional Warm-up

Get your weekend started early with an optional warm-up round. This will be an individual Stableford event, complete with prizes for the day

Saturday

Round 1

Individual Stableford PLUS Team Better Ball Stableford. A Team's best stableford score on each hole counts towards the Team Total.

Sunday

Round 2

Individual Stableford PLUS Team Better Ball Stableford. A Team's best stableford score on each hole counts towards the Team Total.

Rules:

Handicaps: Each pair will play via their official Golf Australia Handicaps, adjusted for the course/slope, etc. Daily results for all players will be entered on GOLF Link and will count towards players’ handicaps. Each player is personally responsible for ensuring that he or she is playing off the correct daily handicap on each day.
Nearest-the-Pin, plus Drive & Chip (NTP in 2 shots): will be held each day.
Playoffs: In the event of a tie, a countback will be used to determine the winners.
Note that a player may only win one of the events (teams or singles). If the individual/singles winner is also one of the winning pairs team, then the next-highest-ranked individual score will be named the individual winner - this ensures we have three Champions for the event.
Prizes are awarded to the top Team, plus individual winner.

Stroke Kings cruise to 2025 SGA Championships victory

Stroke Kings dominate at largest-ever field for 2025 SGA Championships

A record-breaking 160 golfers battled for victory in Social Golf Australia's 2025 SGA Championships, played at the glittering Gold Coast during a week of fun, sun and friendships.

The Four-Round Event, which included both Graded/Individual competitions as well as a Teams Competition, was contested over the week of August 3-8, 2025. It was played at some of Queensland's best golf courses: Lakelands, Palm Meadows, The Glades and RACV Royal Pines, with optional rounds at Palmer Gold Coast and Links Hope Island.

After a week of great golf, camaraderie and all-around fun, the results were tallied, and the winners announced during the traditional Presentation Dinner at the Mantra Legends Ballroom.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING 2025 CHAMPIONS:

A Grade: T-Rex Thiruloganathan (Stroke Kings) on 141. Second went to Arvin Kumar (Stroke Kings) on 129, followed by Barnaby Milles (Vic Invincibles) on 126

B Grade: Michael Houghton (VIC Invincibles) on 139, followed by Mark McNamara (Snap Hooks) on 130, and Jack Mohammed (Stroke Kings) on 128.

C Grade: Jason Brown (Gimme Gang) on 141, followed by Carl Rutledge (Dude! Where’s my par?) on 133, and Nathan Cassie (Birdies & Beers) on 128.

Ladies Grade: The largest-ever ladies field in SGA Championships history (38 competitors!) was won by Lyn Mayne (Aces) on 134 points. She was followed by Fiona Shearer (3 Taffs and a Manc) on 128, and Laurel Meyers (Sandy Lies) on 122.

Teams Result: Congratulations to our Team Winners, The Stroke Kings (Arvin Kumar, Ronald Naidu, Jack Mohammed and T-Rex Thiruloganathan), who dominated the week, finishing on 410 Stableford points! They pipped (back-to-back SGA Bridesmaids) Dude! Where's my Par? (Frank Elisaia, Ian Jolliffe, Neil Jolliffe and Carl Rutledge) on 390.

The Sally Pitt Award, for the person who approaches the event with Courage, Integrity & Kindness, went to Frank Elisaia - a very worthy winner, and someone we are all confident that Sally would have loved.

The presentation award dinner capped our week of $50,000+ in prizes, and also featured our annual Raffle Draw, which included a highly-coveted MGI X1 Motorised Buggy, a $2500 Voucher to play in any SGA Major event, and vouchers for players to join us at a variety of SGA Events.

The winner of the $2500 voucher for any future 2025/2026 SGA Major Event, was won by Rhys Hugglestone. Onya, Rhys!

Corowa Borrowers burgle 2025 Kelly Gang Shootout

A full field of 52 golfers made a gaolbreak for Rich River Golf Club for the 20th staging of The 2025 Kelly Gang Shootout. With sunny and clear skies throughout the weekend, the quality of play and raucous good times were on show.

And what a show it was -- especially from regular podium stars Ash Davis, Brendan Davis, Nick Randone and Adrian Dallas who stormed to victory on Sunday, courtesy of some stellar play. Their two-day total of 185, was enough to pip the fast-finishing Benalla Burglars (Gus Engley, Peter Engley, Braeden Philpin and Joel Simons) on 187, and the Jerilderie Gents (Mark Collis, Ben Forbes, Brian Bane and Bryce Amoroa) also on 187.

2024 SGA Tasman Classic Highlights

Notes re: Air Travel to Barnbougle / Tasmania

Commercial flights from around Australia fly in to Launceston, which is a one-hour drive from Barnbougle. Car hire is available at the airport and there is a bus that regularly transfers golfers from Launceston airport to Barnbougle Dunes. There are Travel Directions and Airport Transfers pages with info on the Barnbougle website.

When booking commercial flights:

Note that the drive from Launceston Airport to Barnbougle Dunes is a solid 90 minutes. Book your inbound flights accordingly (the night before is generally your best option).
We recommend booking your return flight (Sunday) for after 5pm, to allow for golf, presentations and transfer back to Launceston.

NOTES RE CAR HIRE

If you are planning to hire a car in Launceston, we HIGHLY recommend you book it WELL IN ADVANCE, as there is a shortage of hire cars in the area. It is also much cheaper the earlier you book.

Ladies upstage the men at the 2025 SGA Autumn Classic

Ladies upstage the men at the SGA Autumn Classic!

Gorgeous weather, great people and a pair of magnificent golf courses set the stage for the 2025 SGA Autumn Classic over the weekend.

A total of 45 men and women golfers from across Victoria, NSW and WA competed in the event, which featured a combination of Solo Stableford and Pairs Best Ball, played over 36 holes at Bright Country Golf Club and Myrtleford Golf Club.

Notably, the ladies outplayed the men over the weekend, with the podium an all-girls affair (It's true: Girls Just Want to have fun, as witnessed by Marcella Broz's shirt on Sunday - see the photo!).

In the teams event, it was a nail-biting three-way tie for first on 90 total Stableford points, requiring a countback to determine the placings. Congratulations to 2025 champions Helen O’Shea and Jo Crowston, who pipped Di Francois and Rosie Trewin, followed by Rukshana Mohammed and Marcella Broz.

In the individual comp, the ladies also dominated the leaderboard. Di Francois blitzed the field with 78 total stableford points, followed by Marcella Broz on 73, and Helen O’Shea on 72. Congratulations, too, to Suba Thiruchenthuran, who captured the Friday warm-up round at Bright GC.

Regarded as a must-play international trip, the Mission Hills Masters, presented by SGA and AYM Golf Tours, sees golfers and social clubs from across Australia converge in Shenzhen for a week of spectacular golf, energetic competition and, most importantly, a ton of fun.

DAY 1 - Sunday, March 8, 2026

Arrival + Welcome Dinner

Arrive at Shenzhen. You will be picked-up at the airport and transfer to the Mission Hills Resort - Shenzhen.

That night, enjoy a Welcome Dinner, where you will meet your fellow travelers, and get prepared for a week of fun.

(Note: Depending on your flight arrangements/city, you can arrange for an earlier arrival date.)

Monday, March 9, 2026 (9:00am Tee time)

R1 - Els Course

The theme of the Els Course is to create a lush backdrop of dense tree growth juxtaposed against wide swaths of manicured turf, thus evoking a "maintained garden" aesthetic reminiscent of Els' South African homeland. Measuring more than 7,000 yards, the Els Course follows a unique "core" layout in which no two holes run parallel. The signature fourth hole features a tee box atop the highest point on the course, providing golfers with panoramic views of Mission Hills Golf Club and the surrounding region.

Tuesday, March 10, 2026 (9:00am Tee time)

R2 - Rose-Poulter Course

The Rose -Poulter course set within a stunning valley of age old trees and jungle vegetation, the new addition has been designed to create an exciting risk/reward opportunity on many holes and is a great venue for a match play format where players are asked to take chances along the way with less regard to overall medal scoring. The course evokes a much more natural feel with a significant amount of the bunker complexes transitioning into native vegetation, creating a much more flowing and integrated relationship with the outside vegetation and towering mountains.

Named in honor of the 41st World Cup of Golf which it hosted in 1995, this critically acclaimed course was designed by 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus. Winner of multiple international awards and heralded by the authoritative US golf publication LINKS as "one of the ten most significant and influential courses of the last 20 years", Mission Hills' World Cup course is widely hailed as one of Asia's best golfing experiences.

R4 - Olazábal Course

Jose Maria Olazabal's inaugural signature course is one of the club's strongest tests, and was voted the best course in Asia. Numerous majestic vistas of untouched jungle and natural flowing streams create outstanding backdrops throughout the golf course. The numerous, deep bunkers, along with its undulating fairways are two distinguishing features of this true championship course. The Olazabal Course hosted the 2007, 2008 & 2009 Omega Mission Hills World Cup, often referred to as the "Olympics of Golf."

PRE-TOUR - March 6-8, 2026

Shenzhen City Experience

Day 1 – Friday, 6 March

Depart from Australia and arrive in Hong Kong.
Recommended: Take the ferry from Hong Kong International Airport to Shekou Port, Shenzhen (approx. 30 minutes).
Upon arrival at Shekou, collect your luggage and meet your private driver for transfer to Hilton Shekou Shenzhen Hotel.
Check in and relax after your journey.

Day 2 - Saturday, 7 March

Morning: Take the Shenzhen Metro to Luohu Commercial City – famous for electronics, tailoring, and souvenir shopping.
City Tour: Visit Luo Hu District, exploring local markets and cultural sights.
Afternoon: Enjoy a visit to Splendid China Folk Village, a miniature park showcasing major landmarks and ethnic villages of China.
Watch a traditional cultural performance featuring dance, music, and historical reenactments.
Evening: Explore Shekou Sea World, a lively area filled with restaurants, bars, and waterfront views.

Day 3 - Sunday, 8 March

After breakfast, check out of Hilton Shekou, and transfer to Mission Hills Shenzhen
