Stroke Kings cruise to 2025 SGA Championships victory

Stroke Kings dominate at largest-ever field for 2025 SGA Championships

A record-breaking 160 golfers battled for victory in Social Golf Australia's 2025 SGA Championships, played at the glittering Gold Coast during a week of fun, sun and friendships.

The Four-Round Event, which included both Graded/Individual competitions as well as a Teams Competition, was contested over the week of August 3-8, 2025. It was played at some of Queensland's best golf courses: Lakelands, Palm Meadows, The Glades and RACV Royal Pines, with optional rounds at Palmer Gold Coast and Links Hope Island.

After a week of great golf, camaraderie and all-around fun, the results were tallied, and the winners announced during the traditional Presentation Dinner at the Mantra Legends Ballroom.

The presentation award dinner capped our week of $50,000+ in prizes, and also featured our annual Raffle Draw, which included a highly-coveted MGI X1 Motorised Buggy, a $2500 Voucher to play in any SGA Major event, and vouchers for players to join us at a variety of SGA Events.

Corowa Borrowers burgle 2025 Kelly Gang Shootout

A full field of 52 golfers made a gaolbreak for Rich River Golf Club for the 20th staging of The 2025 Kelly Gang Shootout. With sunny and clear skies throughout the weekend, the quality of play and raucous good times were on show.

And what a show it was -- especially from regular podium stars Ash Davis, Brendan Davis, Nick Randone and Adrian Dallas who stormed to victory on Sunday, courtesy of some stellar play. Their two-day total of 185, was enough to pip the fast-finishing Benalla Burglars (Gus Engley, Peter Engley, Braeden Philpin and Joel Simons) on 187, and the Jerilderie Gents (Mark Collis, Ben Forbes, Brian Bane and Bryce Amoroa) also on 187.

See full leaderboard below.

Thanks to all of our amazing players for joining us on an epic weekend. You were all top-notch. We couldn't have a great weekend like this without you!

Special thanks to the entire team at Rich River Golf Club for hosting us on your wonderful course. Finally, cheers to our sponsors Srixon Australia, MGI, Heathcote Winery, Garmin Australia, Drummond Golf and TCN.

Overall, it was a remarkable weekend of fun and frivolity. We hope to see you all next year!

2025 Trans-Murray Match Play Format

The Trans-Murray Matchplay is a 3-day Teams event pitting teams from North and South of the Murray River. Each day's format mirrors the famous Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup matchplay events, with a combination of pairs (Best Ball and Alternate Shot) and singles matchplay. All golfers of all abilities are welcome to play. (Click here to see past results)

Round 1

Pairs Ambrose

Playing in teams of 2, each ambrose pair posts a stroke score for each hole and the best stroke score wins the hole. If the stroke score from each team is the same, the hole is halved. Teams which have the same handicap will play off scratch together. If a team has one more shot on handicap, they get a shot on the hardest hole. Two shots difference = a shot on the two hardest holes and so on. Team captains will aim to match teams with similar handicaps so there are very few shots given.

Round 2

Pairs Alternate-Shot

Teams of 2 playing Alternate Shot with a twist. Players tee off, then team-mates swap drives and hit their second shot with their partner's ball. The team then chooses the best of the two shots, and continue alternating shots with the chosen ball. The best stroke score wins the hole. Teams off the same handicap will play off scratch. If a team has one more shot on handicap, they get a shot on the hardest hole and so on. Team captains will aim to match teams with similar handicaps so there are very few shots given.

Round 3

Singles Matchplay

One-on-One Matchplay. Each player is paired against a player from the opposite team. The best stroke score wins the hole. If the stroke score from each player is the same, the hole is halved. Players off the same handicap will play off scratch. If a player has one more shot on handicap, they get a shot on the hardest hole. Two shots difference = a shot on the two hardest holes and so on. Team captains will aim to match teams with similar handicaps so there are very few shots given.
