In essence, we've done the hard yards for you. All you need to do is have fun!

DAY 1 - Sunday, June 9, 2024

ARRIVAL AT HAINAN ISLAND

Arrive at Hainan Island via Melbourne/Sydney.

You will be picked-up at the airport and transfer to the Mission Hills Resort - Haikou.

That night, enjoy a Welcome Dinner, where you will meet your fellow travelers, and get prepared for a week of fun.

(Note: Depending on your flight arrangements/city, you can arrange for an earlier arrival date.)

Monday

Sandbelt Trails

Sandbelt Trails is patterned after the exceptionally strong courses of the Australian Sandbelt, including Royal Melbourne and Kingston Heath. The course features large bunkers dominated by high sand flashes and crisp, thick lips that rise above fairway and green surfaces. Large greens feature plenty of movement and square tees add to the distinct look. The predominant tree is eucalyptus in keeping with the Australian inspirations. The gently rolling, sometimes flattish terrain has been capped with plenty of width to provide vast playing surface and alternative angles of attack from its sweeping fairways.

Tuesday

The Vintage

The Vintage is patterned after the classic courses built at the turn of the century. On one hand, there is a distinct natural feel to the layout with holes carefully routed on existing terrain leaving the heavily wooded site as undisturbed as possible. At the same time, much of the feature work utilizes odd, sometimes geometric shapes and quirky features that are distinctively old. Revered courses such as the National Golf Links, Fishers Island, Maidstone, Chicago Golf Club, and Garden City served as inspiration for creating a course that gives a distinct nod to the days of old. The natural terrain is frequently contrasted by striking, abrupt mounds, deep pots, square edges, ridges, blind shots, long and thin bunkers near both small and huge greens with wicker basket pins.

Wednesday

REST DAY - Optional round at Stepping Stone OR Double Pin

Today, you can take this Rest Day to explore the resort, or the city of Haikou, and/or Hainan Island.

Or, if you want even more golf, you can play your choice of one of Mission-Hills' fun but challenging 18-hole Par-3 courses. Double Pin features two pins at each green, with one easier/more accessible location and one much more difficult. An arboretum-style landscape will provide an enjoyable atmosphere full of colorful trees and flowers. Stepping Stone (pictured) is a true pitch and putt course, featuring dramatic islands of turf surrounded by lava rock and large sand expanses. It is a beautiful, fun and quick round, with plenty of challenge throughout.

Thursday

Lava Fields

While similar in many respects to the Tournament Course with its irregular lines of turf and wild bunkering, Lava Fields presents far less tree cover. There is a feel of expanse that creates a big look and the black rock and sand dominate the landscape like no other course in the world. At 7400 yards, it is capable of hosting significant events.

Friday

Blackstone

Voted best championship course in Asia, this spectacular golf course hosted The Match at Mission Hills in 2013 with Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods. The course weaves through a striking landscape of mature trees, thick jungle vegetation, and expansive lakes and wetlands. The dominating site characteristic is the bed of lava rock, which has been incorporated as an integral element. Adding to the look are wild, irregular bunker edges and transitional sand edges that effortlessly work into native lava rock. In addition, there is only a fairway cut (no rough, not even at bunker faces). The naturally rolling terrain sees dramatic elevation change and great care was taken to find as many natural holes as possible.

That night, enjoy a Closing Presentation Dinner, where you can share your week's golfing highlights with your new-found friends and travellers.

The Dunes at Shenzhou Peninsula

There is also an optional 4-day/3-night Tour Extension, following the main event, for those who want EVEN MORE great golf.

The extension includes The Dunes at Shenzhou Peninsula, which is about 2.5 hours south of Mission Hills. SGA's Matthew Pitt and Sheri Yu recently visited the course, and we can confirm that it is MINT. SGA's Mick David has proclaimed it as "the best course I have ever seen". So you know you'll be in for a treat with this extension.

Exciting finish at inaugural SGA Autumn Classic

Thrilling finish at Inaugural SGA Autumn Classic

It was an absolutely incredible weekend at Murray Downs Resort for the Inaugural SGA Autumn Classic, held May 5-7, 2023.

While much of the country saw rainy and miserable conditions throughout the weekend, the booked-out field at Murray Downs enjoyed sunshine, great golf, plenty of laughs and heaps of camaraderie.

Despite a few chilly morning starts, the golf heated up throughout the weekend, with some stellar scoring in the Pairs Better Ball and Individual Stableford competitions.

Round 1 - Saturday

The most notable score of the day was a spectacular 41 points from Geoff Hannah. That placed him firmly atop the Singles leaderboard, with SGA's own Matthew Pitt one shot back on 40. Ben Sterck rounded out the top 3 on a very solid 38 points.

Much to the delight of Hannah and Sterck, they were also teammates in the Pairs Best Ball Competition, which (not surprisingly) saw them at the top of the board on 50 Best Ball points (!). Next best were Steve Pettit + Paul Pearce (44 points), and Drew Hallam + Al Clelland (also on 44).

Round 2 - Sunday

Round 2 was a chilly (er...FRESH) morning, which saw teams (and one car) struggle to get started. But when the sun came out, the guns came out, and there was some serious jockeying on the leaderboard.

When the final scores were tallied, the Hannah/Sterck team managed to limp over the line and squeak out an Inaugural SGA Autumn Classic victory in the Pairs comp with 85 total points, on a Countback from the fast-finishing team of Kathy Ridley and Mick David. 3rd went to Drew Hallam and Al Clelland, one shot back on 84. In 4th were Phoebe Burfield and Salli Fox (83), with four teams tied for 5th on 81.

In the Singles Overall competition, Salli Fox (74 points) pipped Mick David (72), with Lyn Mayne & Matthew Pitt equal 3rd on 67. Rounding out the top-5 were Al Clelland and Tony Grant, both on 66.

A picturesque setting, with some truly world-class golf awaits all who are lucky enough to tread the fairways of Royal Canberra. Set amidst the magnificent Westbourne Woods arboretum, Royal Canberra offers world class facilities and a 27 hole Championship course.

Gold Creek Country Club

A true 18-hole championship layout, Gold Creek CC was designed by well-known and internationally-acclaimed Australian golfer and course architect, Bruce Devlin. Opened in 1996, the course offers a great test for golfers of all abilities and strategy is key to play well here.

Gungahlin Lakes

Gungahlin Lakes Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course characterised by its lakes, creeks and water carries. Whether it be the water, dogleg fairways or bunkers, each hole has its own unique challenge in getting to the large bent grass greens. The course layout provides an enjoyable yet testing round for all players, rewarding those that approach it strategically. And it provides a fitting challenge for the final round of our event!

Mantra on Northbourne is perfectly located a short walk from the CBD and famous attractions such as Parliament House, the War Memorial and the National Gallery, and only a few metres from the city's thriving shopping precinct, hip bars and cool cafes. Our 54-hole event will be contested Thursday-Saturday, giving golfers the opportunity to stay over in the ACT for an extended break.

On the Thursday, golfers will play the magnificent Royal Canberra, one of the best courses in Australia. Day 2 will see you playing Gold Creek Country Club, with Gungahlin Lakes hosting the final round on the Saturday as well as the presentation dinner immediately after play.

2023 William Buckley Classic - Event Info

2023 is the 18th running of the William Buckley Classic, with the event returning to the magnificent Bellarine Peninsula.

Golfers will play on both the Beach and Creek courses, and stay on course at the 13th Beach Golf Lodges. The format for the weekend is an exciting 2-ball Ambrose for stableford points.

13th Beach Golf Links

Set on the stunning Bellarine Peninsula, 13th Beach Golf Links is the home of the Vic Open, and famously known for its two award-winning courses. With a modern Clubhouse and great facilities, 13th beach is a must-play for golfers of all skill levels.

13th Beach Golf Lodges

Located on course, just a 2-minute stroll to the Clubhouse, these lodges feature luxurious and spacious Studio Rooms (with private patio area overlooking the stunning Beach Golf Course and Lake Murtnaghurt) as well as stunning 2 Bedroom Suites featuring 2 bathrooms, lounge/dining area, kitchenette and large outdoor patio area.

William Buckley Classic Event format

Day 1 (The Advance)

Optional Warm-up

Get your weekend started early, (and scout the upcoming field of battle) with an optional warm-up round.

Day 2 (The Ambush)

Ambrose Stableford (Pairs)

The two-person teams play Two-Ball Ambrose Stableford. A rodeo rule is applied (minimum number of drives). The day's stableford score is recorded as Round 1.

Day 3 (The Assault)

Ambrose Stableford (Pairs)

Team members battle together (side-by-side!) in an all-out assault, playing two-person team Ambrose Stableford, with a Rodeo rule applied. The day's score is added to Saturday's team score to create a two-round total.

The William Buckley Classic Format

The William Buckley Classic is a 36-hole siege for teams of two playing two-ball ambrose.
Each team will be assigned a handicap by the organisers on the basis of official Australian handicaps and information supplied by the Bushrangers. The handicapper will be governed by a commitment to rewarding good play according to a player’s ability.

Rules:

Each member hits their shot, then chooses the best of the two, and continues play from there. Teams play their chosen best ball on each shot and may place their ball half a club length (about 50cms) from where the chosen ball lay, no nearer the hole. Balls must be placed in the same cut as the chosen ball. In the interests of fast play from tee to green, teams are NOT required to mark with a tee and precisely measure from the chosen ball as they play each shot. Once on the green, Bushrangers should mark near the chosen best ball so both team members play from near enough to the exact same position.
The event features a Rodeo Rule, which requires a minimum number of drives for each team member. Each team’s rodeo requirements will appear on their scorecard.
Nearest-the-Pin & Longest Drive: will be held as some usual tasty ‘side action’ between teams.

Playoffs:

In the event of a tie, a sudden-death playoff will be conducted. Teams play together as a twosome (taking alternate strokes playing one ball). Teams can determine the order as each member takes their first shot. This order is then continuous and carries over from one hole to the next until the playoff is decided.

Lakelands Golf Course

Today features an optional (and fun) Team Ambrose Golf Day, where you can warm-up for the week in a jovial and relaxing atmosphere. The Glades

Today, you'll tee it up on The Glades, regarded by many as the finest golf course on the Gold Coast. Designed by Greg Norman, the 6420m Championship layout opened in 1999 and rapidly developed a reputation as the best golf course on the Gold Coast. The facility features superb playing surfaces with unique “Creeping bent grass” greens that ensure a superior putting surface all year round. The Glades is on 65 hectares of land with a total of 98 bunkers. Norman not only had a vision to create a challenging golf course on the Gold Coast, but he also retained 9 hectares of wetland area to create a natural wildlife sanctuary within the course.

The day also features our fun (and optional) Round 3 Fancy Dress Day, where you can "Go Bold" with your day's attire!

Home of the PGA of Australia's TPS Murray River tournament, The Cobram Barooga Golf Club is a stunning 36-hole golf complex. It was a week of fun in the sun for the competitors of the 2022 SGA International, Phuket. With four rounds of golf on four spectacular courses--in a truly magical setting--SGA golfers were smiling from ear to ear, enjoying a return to international golf travel.

For this year’s trip, we have chosen an amazing assortment of the top golf courses. In addition, we have partnered with an on-ground supplier to assist with golf and transfers.

DAY 1 - Sunday, 5 March 2023

ARRIVAL IN THAILAND

Depart from your capital city to Pattaya.

Pick-up at the airport and transfer to your hotel for check-in.

DAY 2 - Mon, 6 March 2023

Laem Chabang International Country Club

Laem Chabang was designed by the great Jack Nicklaus and features 27-holes with three very distinct 9-hole layouts. The Mountain Nine, the Lake Nine and the Valley Nine offer three superb golfing experiences and some of the most stunning views you will see on a golf course. A true golfers’ course that has hosted over a dozen professional events in the past 20 years, it has been a staple at the SGA Pattaya Golf Week.

DAY 3 - Tue, 7 March 2023

Siam Country Club, Plantation Course

This course was designed by the well-known Arizona-based, Schmidt & Curley Design Inc and opened in March 2008. This was the second Siam CC course completed and is a 27-hole layout. The Plantation name was given in the honour of the historic Sugar Cane, Tapioca and Pineapple plantations in the area with each set of 9-holes is named accordingly. Siam CC has since built the Waterside Course so the facility features three magnificent courses and there is a fourth course being built.

DAY 4. Wed, 8 March 2023

REST DAY - Optional Golf - Royal Gems

This incredible golfing mecca is a replica golf course, located near Bangkok. The front 9 features nine of the great golf holes of the world such as the Road Hole, the Church Pews & the Postage Stamp. The second 9 is a replica of the back nine at Augusta National Golf Club – home of the US Masters. We have limited tee times so we are making them available as an Early Bird booking offer – pay your Pattaya Golf Week deposit by the Early Bird Deadline and get the first option at booking a round on this very exclusive golf course for a once-in-a-lifetime golfing experience.

Siam Country Club - Waterside Course

Beauty, challenge, environmental care and friendly play are the emphasis of the Waterside Course. Designed by IMG Golf Course Design, the Waterside course provides distinct differences from the famous Old Course and Plantation.

DAY 6. Fri, 10 March 2023

Chee Chan

Chee Chan Golf Resort is an 18-hole championship course situated on 229 acres in a stunning location next to the famed Chee Chan Mountain with the world’s largest Lord Buddha image depicted on the cliff. Its stunning clubhouse is beautifully designed and is also equipped with a wide variety of amenities and world-class services including well-appointed locker rooms, a pro-shop, different types of cuisine guaranteed to please every palate to cater to golfers’ different lifestyles.

Montgomerie Links Golf Club

Designed by Colin Montgomerie, the links-style Montgomerie Links gives you the feeling of being in Scotland, but without the cold temperatures. The golf course takes advantage of its close proximity to the Marble Mountains, and features an excellent course with a large, contemporary clubhouse.

BRG Da Nang Golf Resort, Norman Course

Opened in 2010, this course immediately leapt to fame, being recognized as one of the 15 best new courses in the world by USA GOLF magazine. Da Nang Golf Resort has achieved many awards, amongst them 2011, 2012, 2013 best golf course in Asia by the readers of Asian Golf Monthly as well as the 2012 Best Golf Course in Vietnam by USA Golf Digest and the 2014 IAGTO Diamond Award.

REST DAY - Half-day Hoi An Sightseeing Tour

Half-day Hoi An Sightseeing Tour, including UNESCO World Heritage Site, Old Town, and Local Markets. Enjoy the quintessential charm of ancient Hoi An as you walk the narrow streets and explore the shops along the bank of the Thu Bon River. Visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Fujian Assembly Hall and the famous wet markets, while also exploring the historic Old Town for a shopping adventure.

Located between the ancient city of Hue to the north, and Da Nang to the south, the Laguna Lang Co Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Sir Nick Faldo. The course takes advantage of the variety of existing environments as it weaves between trees, over rice paddy fields and streams, through impressive rock features and alongside the beach, to create a challenging and beautiful layout.

Hoiana Shores Golf Club

Ba Na Hills Golf Club

Located 25 minutes from the centre of Da Nang, Ba Na Hills is set amidst a valley surrounded by native forest. This is a mountain course with a great mix of natural topography and vegetation, which will provide a challenge for all levels of golfers. The fairways are typically generous, and the bunkering style is impressively bold with the grass rolled over the face and the sand partly visible from the tees. The greens have plenty of subtle undulations and encourage a variety of approach shots.
